Class: GenerationIsCanonicalError ​

The canonical generation cannot be deleted while it is canonical.

Deleting what answers reads would blank the app for exactly as long as a re-index takes, which is the outage this whole design exists to remove. Moving the pointer is one small write, so the cost of requiring it first is one call, and it is a call whose consequence the operator can see before the bytes go.
