Documentation / @etherfold/core / GenesisBlockNotServedError

Class: GenesisBlockNotServedError

Defined in: packages/core/src/errors.ts:694

A provider that answered the genesis read with NO BLOCK.

Not a verdict about the chain: the node did not say it has a different genesis, it said it does not have block 0 to show. That is ordinary on a pruned or partially-synced node, and it is the failure the earliest tag used to hide -- the tag means the lowest block the client HAS, so such a node answered with a real block whose hash could not match and the check reported a WRONG CHAIN. Asking for 0x0 turns that into an honest absence, which is this error, and the wording is deliberately about not being able to CHECK.

retryable is false because a node does not acquire history while a caller waits: the remedies are an archive/full node, or skipGenesisCheck for a deployment that accepts eth_chainId alone as the identity guard.
