Function: slotHolding()

slotHolding(slots, id): "canonical" | "successor" | "predecessor" | undefined

WHICH SLOT names this generation, if any.

The question a replacement, a collection and a promotion all ask, answered in one place: a generation no slot names is dead work, and one ANY slot names is not a replacement's to touch. No generation is ever named by two slots, so the first match is the answer.
